Improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

Description

WHAT’S POLLUTING THE AIR QUALITY IN YOUR HOME OR WORK PLACE?

Because most people spend over 80% of their time indoors, improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is crucial for our health and well-being. Indoor Air Quality has become one of today’s leading health concerns. The outside environment, ventilation systems, construction materials, furniture, carpeting, paints, and cleaning solutions are a few of the many factors that contribute to the quality of indoor air.

The ventilation system has been cited as a prime contributor to Sick Building Syndrome. This can be due to poor design, improper maintenance, or incorrect operation. It may even be as simple as a change from the initial home or office layout, which can affect system efficiency.

It is important to distinguish between Sick Building Syndrome and Building Related Illnesses:

  • Building Related Illnesses are identifiable and can be attributed directly to specific airborne contaminants, such as Legionnaire’s Disease.
  • Sick Building Syndrome is used to describe a situation in which those spending extended time in a building, such as daily employment, report or experience acute on-site discomfort.

Providing better indoor air quality is everyone’s responsibility. There are many factors that we can control to help provide better indoor air quality and a healthier building:

  • Building and decorating with Green Products
  • Eliminating harmful chemicals used for everyday cleaning
  • Incorporating proper ventilation methods
  • Installing an air purification system such as CX1000 or CX-PRO

3 Components of Poor Indoor Air Quality

Particulates – Very small solid or liquid substances, such as inorganic / organic compounds and dormant / living organisms, that are light enough to float in air.

Microbial – This category represents germs, viruses, and bacteria. These small organisms can only be seen through a microscope, and are present in every environment.

Chemical (Gaseous) – Hundreds of gaseous pollutants, covering all combustion gasses and organic chemicals (VOC’s), have been detected in indoor environments. Health effects vary widely and depend on the types, concentrations, frequency and duration of exposure.

Continental Fan offers the most advanced system for improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

Improve indoor air quality at work or home with Continental Fan’s CX Air Purifiers. Our CX1000 portable and CX-PRO in-duct air purifiers use patented technology to combat the three major categories of indoor air contaminates: particle removal, chemical neutralization, and living organism abatement. CX Air Purifiers are designed to remove airborne particles, neutralize odors, and chemicals, and eliminate germs, viruses, and bacteria.
